I grew up in a world that taught me survival, not success. In poverty, or in a culture devoid of wealth-building knowledge, the idea of “what you don’t know” becomes your greatest enemy. Knowledge wasn’t just scarce—it was invisible. Even when books like those by Stephen Covey, Robert Kiyosaki, Gino Wickman, and Simon Sinek found their way into my hands, I was ill-equipped to understand their transformative power. I read them, just like many of my friends, not for enlightenment but for ammunition. I learned to rephrase catchy phrases to sound smarter than the next person or to create “gotcha” moments in conversations. The words were there, but the meaning—the system—was not.
The problem was never the books; it was the code hidden within them. Without the ability to decode their true message, the best I could achieve was surface-level understanding. I didn’t grasp that these authors weren’t just sharing philosophies—they were laying out systems. Systems for thinking, systems for leading, systems for creating wealth, and systems for living a life of impact.
